Heartland Robotics is developing intelligent, safe and affordable robots that will transform how robots are used in manufacturing. Founded by Rodney Brooks (former director of the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory and a co-founder of iRobot), Heartland Robotics’ vision is to create teachable, sentient robots that can work side by side with people in industrial settings.
We are seeking a Software QA Engineer to help us implement our vision. The ideal candidate possesses the following qualities:

- Innovative in coming up with novel ways of testing software and system capabilities
This position will report to the Manager of Software Quality Assurance.
Responsibilities:
- Develop test plans and test cases based upon functional and software design specifications for specific functional areas
- Execute test cases, analyze and provide detailed test reports containing system setup and monitoring information, as well as detailed test results analyses
- Participate actively in functional, system, stress and regression testing activities
- Quantitatively measure product usability, performance, safety and provide detailed reports
- Automate testing procedure to possible extend
- Work closely with the development team to analyze, debug and resolve any issues
- Work closely with product design/management and user experience teams to provide feedback and input for future product development activities
- Participate in product functional reviews, test specifications, code and documentation reviews
- 1~3 yrs of experience in software QA
- Solid knowledge of Software Quality Assurance methodology
- Experience in manual testing of complex systems and/or software
- Experience working with Linux environment
- Experience testing combination of hardware and software
- Programming in python/C++/embedded or equivalent is a big plus
- Experience in a startup environment, including exposure to Agile adds further value
- Background in robotics and/or automation is highly desirable
